Corbett Art & Design intent 2020

At Corbett, we aim to deliver an art curriculum which embodies the highest forms of creativity. We aim to make art lessons that engage and inspire to make learning irresistible. Children will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to experiment, invent and create their own works of art. They will gain an understanding of how art and design has shaped our history as a nation. We aim to ensure that children produce creative work, inspired by their Christian faith and community, and that they become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques. We will empower children to work together to evaluate and analyse works using the language of art and design, and they will learn about great artists, craft makers and designers and their impact on our historical and cultural development.

Corbett Design & Technology intent 2020

At Corbett, Design & Technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject, which encourages children to learn to think and intervene creatively to solve problems both as individuals and as members of a team. We encourage children to use their creativity and imagination to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts; in doing so, they will consider their own and others’ needs and work together to share ideas, wants and values. Whenever possible, we aim to link work to other disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art. The children are also given opportunities to reflect upon and evaluate past and present design technology, its uses and its effectiveness, and are encouraged to become innovators and risk-takers. We enable children to love and share their learning.
