Corbett History intent

At Corbett, we create an environment where children have the chance to develop culturally, emotionally, intellectually, socially and spiritually, surrounded by a nurturing Christian faith. Children will have the opportunity to delve into the world of history, engaging with the school’s own history in the context of the local area and community being a celebrated and inspiring feature of the school. Children will gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. We aim to inspire pupils’ curiosity about the past. Additionally, they will ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement. Through the teaching of history, we endeavour to teach children to understand and reflect on the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between groups, as well as their own identities and the challenges of their time.

Corbett Geography Intent

At Corbett, we aim to provide a broad, balanced and differentiated geography curriculum that ensures the progressive development of geographical concepts, knowledge and skills. We want our children to develop a love for geography. We are committed to providing children with opportunities to investigate and make enquiries about the world and its people, aiming to respect and reflect the community and ignite a love of learning. Our teaching will equip children with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.

Corbett RE intent 2021 – 2022

At Corbett, we create an environment where children have the chance to develop culturally, emotionally, intellectually, socially and spiritually, surrounded by a nurturing Christian faith. We aim to deliver high quality RE lessons, which make learning irresistible.

Children will deepen their understanding of the Christian faith by engaging with texts from the Bible through reading, drama and art. This will help them to understand the impact the Bible has on Christians’ lives and to make connections so that we are able to share God’s love with the world. In addition, we shall explore other faiths so that we may develop our understanding, and show love and respect to all people in our community. Our Christian faith will be nurtured through regular worship sessions with Reverend Richard and through services at the church of Holy Cross throughout the year.
