Corbett PE intent 2021 – 2022

At Corbett, we aim to deliver irresistible PE lessons that inspire our children to succeed and excel in sport and other
physical activity. We will provide opportunities for children to work together and compete in sport and other activities
in order to embed values of fairness and respect. These values are nurtured by a Christian faith. We will provide
children with a varied PE curriculum in which they are active for sustained periods of time. We will encourage a love of
sport, health and fitness that will equip children with the skills to live active and healthy lives as part of the community
and the wider world.

Corbett English intent 2023 – 2024

At Corbett, we deliver an PSHE/RHE curriculum that enables children to love their learning and flourish in a community where differences of lifestyle and opinion are treated with dignity and respect. Our school seeks to ensure that the curriculum protects, informs and nurtures all pupils. It clearly differentiates between factual teaching (biology, medicine, the law, marriage, different types of families and the composition of society) and moral teaching about relationships and values, recognising that the distinction can be easily blurred and that there needs to be discernment about the manner in which this is taught. We teach PSHE/RHE within a moral (but not moralistic) framework.

PSHE/RHE is at the core of what we do and enables our children to become independent, confident, healthy and responsible members of society. It develops the ‘whole child’ intellectually, morally, socially and spiritually. PSHE/RHE is taught across the school from Nursery to Year 6 on a weekly basis, and the whole school follows and adapts the Jigsaw PSHE scheme. Jigsaw, the mindful approach to PSHE/HWB, brings together education on personal, social and health issues, and emotional and spiritual development, in a comprehensive scheme of learning.

Jigsaw nurtures children to be confident and successful, increasing their capacity to learn and preparing them for the challenges of the modern world. Developed by teachers and wellbeing experts, Jigsaw provides children with opportunities to develop their emotional intelligence and life skills.

Corbett French (Modern Foreign Languages) intent 2020

At Corbett, we encourage a deep understanding, not only of our own community, but of the world. We aim to provide our children with the opportunity to communicate in another language and to nurture a love of languages that will equip them to study and work in other countries. We aim to make language lessons irresistible, so that children speak and write another language with increasing confidence. Children will be given the opportunity to listen and respond to spoken language, as well as to explore and appreciate stories, songs, poems and rhymes. They will
broaden their vocabulary and begin to express their ideas clearly.
