🍂 Autumn Learning
A very warm welcome to all children and families joining Daisy Class this autumn term! We’re excited to begin a new school year together, filled with opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.
At the start of the term, we’ll be reminding ourselves of our daily routines and classroom expectations to help everyone feel settled and confident. We’re also proud to be introducing our new school values, which will guide everything we do in school.
We have an exciting term of learning ahead! Read on to find out more about what we’ll be exploring in Daisy Class this term.
📜 History – Through the Ages
Take a moment to step outside and stand quietly and still. Turn off all your technology and try to forget the modern world. Imagine this place 5000 years ago. What would you have seen? Head back to prehistoric times to gather berries and hunt down dinner. Unearth ancient objects and visit astonishing mystical monuments that reveal the secrets of an ancient time. Learn how the people of Britain developed over thousands of years, from the Stone Age to the Roman invasion. Work as a tribe to build a seasonal monument to celebrate the coming of spring. Then sit quietly and reflect, waiting for the sunrise. What tribal tales will you have to tell?
🎒Trip – History based
This half term Daisy Class will be consolidating their learning in history with a trip to Outback 2 Basics. As seen on Channel 4’s documentary “Surviving the Stone Age” – Dan & Naomi are the dynamic duo behind Outback 2 Basics & The Stone Age Company. The children will experience interactive, hands-on workshops and experiences that will focus on Stone Age history, bushcraft, and outdoor learning for schools and individuals.
🎨 Art – Compare and Contrast
This project teaches children about colour theory by studying the colour wheel and colour mixing. It includes an exploration of tertiary colours, warm and cool colours, complementary colours and analogous colours, and how artists use colour in their artwork.
🧪 Science – Animal nutrition and the skeletal system
This project teaches children about the importance of nutrition for humans and other animals. They learn about the role of a skeleton and muscles and identify animals with different types of skeleton.

As part of our cross-curricular learning this term, children will be exploring statues in their Art and Design lessons, linking closely with their ongoing work on Ancient Egypt. Pupils will study how statues were used in Ancient Egyptian culture — from grand sculptures of pharaohs to symbolic gods and goddesses — and will reflect on their purpose, design, and meaning. They will look at the materials, shapes, and artistic techniques used by ancient artists and craftsmen. Building on this knowledge, children will then design and create their own statues using a variety of materials. They will have the opportunity to develop their skills in shaping, sculpting, and decorating as they bring their ideas to life. This creative project not only supports their historical learning but also encourages self-expression, imagination, and an appreciation for how art can tell stories from the past. We look forward to showcasing their incredible creations later in the term!
