Climate Action Plan
At Corbett (VA) CE Primary School, we are deeply committed to caring for God’s creation and preparing our pupils for a sustainable future. Our Climate Action Plan sets out a whole‑school approach to reducing our environmental impact, enriching our curriculum and green spaces, and empowering our pupils to lead meaningful change.
With our extensive outdoor grounds, strong Forest School provision and dedicated staff, we are in a unique position to embed climate education and sustainable practice into everyday school life. Our plan focuses on practical, achievable actions across key areas including energy use, biodiversity, school meals, travel, digital sustainability, and community engagement.
Our key commitments include:
- Reducing carbon emissions through energy‑saving behaviours, improved building efficiency, greener procurement and low‑carbon school meals
- Enhancing biodiversity by expanding our wildflower areas, tree planting and pupil‑led stewardship of the school grounds
- Embedding climate education throughout the curriculum from EYFS to Year 6, supported by training for staff and practical learning opportunities for pupils
- Supporting wellbeing by making the most of our natural spaces and integrating nature‑based wellbeing activities
- Empowering pupil leadership through a strong Eco Council and pupil‑led campaigns that make a measurable difference
- Engaging parents and the wider community in workshops, volunteer projects and shared sustainability initiatives
- Building resilience and future‑readiness through long‑term planning for site improvements, sustainable procurement, and local partnerships
This plan reflects our belief that even small schools can make a significant positive impact. Through everyday actions, shared responsibility and strong moral purpose, we are working together to ensure that Corbett plays its part in addressing climate change — now and for future generations.
